CEREBRAL PALSIED
Templeton Home Plan (Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, August 27. Work on a villa for the cerebral palsied at Templeton could begin in 1965-66, said the Minister of Health (Mr McKay) in Parliament today. Mr H. J. Walker (Govt., St. Albans) asked what progress was being made with the home for adult cerebral palsied at Orokonui and when it could be expected that a similar home would be established at Templeton. Mr McKay said the prototype of a villa for patients with a multiple type of handicap was almost ready for occupation at Orokonui and the first patients should be admitted before the end of September.
If practical experience showed it well suited the plan would become a standard one and used where appropriate at other hospitals of the Mental Health Division. “Provision is made in the divisional works programme for a villa of this type to be started at Templeton Hospital and training school in 1965-66 financial year,” said Mr McKay.
