Churches ’ Representative To Attend S. Pacific Talks
The National Council of Churches will send a representative as an observer to the sixth South Pacific Conference, to be held in Papua
or New Guinea in or about May, 1965. An invitation, issued by the secretary general of the South Pacific Commission, said that in accordance with a decision made last year observers were being invited from organisations having working relations with the commission.
The conference will be attended by representatives of all territories in the South Pacific area, and will last for about three weeks.
Among the subjects to be discussed will be the social and health problems of urbanisation, including modern entertainment, vagrant elements, population increase and juvenile delinquency, and the problem of the physically and mentally handicapped.
Recommendations will be made to territorial governments, churches, and interested bodies on their respective roles to meet the social, economic and health problems of urbanisation.
