DIVISION OF GERMANY
M.P. Found Bitterness (N.Z. Press Association) PALM. NORTH, July 1. The peoples of both East Germany and West Germany have now no rancour at having lost two world wars, but they are extremely bitter about the division of their country. This is one of the impressions brought back to New Zealand by Mr W. H. Brown, member of Parliament for Palmerston North. Mr Brown, who will resume his seat in the House of Representatives this evening, was one of about 3QOO persons from various parts of the world who are invited each year by the Government of West Germany to tour that country at its own expense. Mr Brown visited Bonn, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Munich, Berlin and East Berlin, Hamburg and Lubeck. Because of his interest in motoring and road construction, as the private motorists’ representative on the National Roads Board, and in education, as a former chairman of the Wanganui Education Board, .he has brought back much information of value to New Zealand.
