MAIDEN VOYAGE

Danish Ship Luxurious A 6460-ton, streamlined Danish motor ship at present in Lyttelton discharging West European cargo is on her maiden voyage. She is the 18-knot passenger freighter, Mette Skou, owned by Ove Skou, of Copenhagen, and under charter to the Shaw Savill and Albion Line. She has a crew of 34 and is commanded by Captain H. P. Carlsen. She has five cargo hatches, strong bipod masts and a squat eliptical funnel. One of the most compact vessels ever seen in Lyttelton, she is luxuriosly appointed and has accommodation for 12 passengers. The Mette Skou was built at Elsinore.

She has already called at Opua, Auckland and Wellington and is expected to sail today for Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff. Ove Skou have a fleet of 17 ships. Another of the company’s vessels, the Lotte Skou, paid her second visit to Lyttelton last week.
