The Nawab of Pataudi’s gamble of putting England in to bat after winning the toss for India for the fifth successive time seemed to have come unstuck at the end of the first day of the final test at Kanpur on Saturday. „ , J J At the close England had reached 252 for three. J. B. Bolus (67) shared a first-wicket stand of 63 With J. H. Edrich, and later the Essex all rounder, B. R. Knight hit an unbeaten 65 He and P. H. Parfitt had put on 78 for the fourth wicket.
