Best-Dressed Athletes

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)

HOLLYWOOD, Feb. 12. Plans by the United States to make its Tokyo Olympic team the best-dressed in the world were unveiled today, United Press International reported. The most striking feature of the official uniforms are the hats, in the style worn by cowboys which President Johnson has been handing out to distinguished guests at his Texas ranch. The parade uniforms for men are sports shirts with cravats to set off blue blazers, white slacks and white shoes.

The women will wear onepiece sleeveless dresses of white stretch fabric in a modified turtle-neck design, and Olympic blue coated-nylon jackets, with red and white trim. Mr G. K. Gilbert, an Olympic apparel committee mem■ber. said the goal was to deI velop “handsome, exciting i outfits, not uniforms. | “We wanted to create an image that says America 'knows how to dress.” he padded. “This is an effort to reflect the dynamic nature of i young Americans.”
