WIFE OF SHAW
N.Z. Woman Gets Role [From the London Correspondent of “The Press”} Miss Vivienne Martin, the Wellington actress who has distinguished herself on stage and television in Britain in recent years, has been chosen to play George Bernard Shaw’s wife, Charlotte, in “The Bashful Genius,” at Nottingham Playhouse. She recently played a leading role in the musical, “Oliver,” in London. It is an open secret that Miss Martin, aged 28, would very much like to revisit New Zealand with her own touring company. In the meantime, her theatrical activities keep her busy in the United Kingdom. But for some uncertainty surrounding work permits for visiting actresses in New York, she would almost certainly have played in the Broadway production of “The Importance of Being Dressed.” She will next be seen in 8.8. C. television in a play, “The Salesman,” with lan Bannen.
