50 YEARS MARRIED

Mr And Mrs G. Finney Mr and Mrs G. Finney, of 25 Circuit street, Christchurch, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary yesterday. They were married in 1914 by the late Rev. Thomas MacDonald, They were driven to the service in one of the first taxis in Christchurch. Mrs Finney, who is- 74, was born in Christchurch apd, except for eight years when she was a child, she has lived here all her life. Born in Sydney, Mr Finney, now '79, came to Christchurch in. the Wooramoo in 1906 and worked with Davies and Lamb, hairdressers, Colombo street. He left after three years to open his own hairdressing and tobacconist business, in the City Hotel building. He now has four shops managed by his son. Mr and Mrs Finney have three daughters and two sons. Their youngest daughter, Mrs W. A. Warden, travelled from England with her 15-month-old baby to be with her parents on the anniversary. The other children live in Christchurch. Mrs Finney is a member of the Rose Society and the Christchurch Women’s Club and Mr Finney of the Elmwood Bowling Club. They, are both keen gardeners. Mrs Finney also finds time to . paint, mainly arrangements of flowers from her garden, and do basket work. Dried musk glands of Canadian beavers are used in India as a base or fixing agent in perfume.
