Taxi Stands

Sir,—ln reply to “Shopper,” we wish to state that every consideration is given to shopkeepers and customers in all suburban areas by taxis awaiting fares and 'phone calls, and that in the area referred to, adjacent to the Linwood Post Office no shopping area is encroached upon. Over the years there has been a reduction of authorised taxi stand space in the inner city area, and with the increase in the number of taxis, available it has been found necessary to establish “listening out” points in suburban areas. We are sure that if “Shopper” is a regular taxi user, he or she will appreciate the quick and efficient service provided to the public by this method of despatch.—Yours, etc., B. O. MORGAN, Secretary, Canterbury Branch, N.Z. Taxi Proprietors’ Federation. January 24, 1964.
