New High Level (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEW YORK, January 23. The New York stock market rose to another historic high ever in fairly heavy trading today, the Associated Press reported. It was the market's tenth all-time high in the 15 sessions of this year. The market was slightly higher at the start fallowing yesterday’s new high. It widened its gains in the first hour, erased some of them around noon, but resumed the rise in afternoon trading. Late profit taking left most stocks below their best for the day, but toe market remained a little higher on average at the close. Range of Gains Most gains ranged from fractions to around' one dollar a share. . Standard and Poor’s 500 stock index rose six cents to another high level of 77.00 dollars. The S. and P. 425 industrials also reached another high level, rising seven cents to 81.54 dollars. The Dow Jones 30 industrials rose 1.55 to another historic high level'of 782.86. The petroleums and selected blue chips advanced. Some of the rails declined. Other major groups were mixed. It was a broad market with 1343 issues crossing the tape: Of these, 586 advanced, 470 declined and 287 closed unchanged. There were 72 new 1963-64 high levels and 11 new low levels. Volume totalled 5,410,000 shares compared with 5.430,000 shares traded yesterday.
