Better Style Wools 1d Up At Dunedin

DUNEDIN, Jan. 24. Better style crossbred and half-bred wool rose another Id when the Dunedin wool sale continued today. Other types held Wednesday raites. Late on Wednesday prices began to settle fractionally lower and tills prompted an unofficial source to forecast prices a little more in buyers’ favour.

However, when the first catalogue went before the benches today the bidding was fast and furious. In the first hour 350 lots went under the hammer in competition that was well spread. The pace and price continued with some excellent realisations for the predominantly cross-bred offering. Two exceptional prices were 62d for a 16-bale binned lot of super half-bred pieces and three bales of fine halfbred necks. There were some passings, but these occurred only when growers had very strict reserves. The poorer types although holding their earlier value proved to be erratic but hogget wools sold exceptionally well. „ The to P price for the day, "ojd for one bale of good Southdown equalled the first day’s top price but this was only a very small line.
