ANNUAL ARMY CAMPS

Territorials In South Island The Ist and 2nd Reconnaissance Squadrons, New Zealand Scottish Regiment, went into camp at Tekapo on Friday night and will be there until January 25. The rest of the South Island Territorials, except the 3rd Field Squadron of the Royal New Zealand Engineers and the Otago University Medical Company, will be camping at Burnham, West Melton, Tekapo, and in the Culverden area from January 18 to January 31. They will spend the first week at Burnham and West Melton, then the infantry will go to Culverden for exercises in the high country between the Pahau and Mandamus rivers. The 3rd Field Regiment will go to Tekapo for live shell practice. When the 3rd Field Squadron of the Royal New Zealand Engineers goes to Waiouru on February 8 it will help to build an airfield there. During the annual camp, certain of the units will be changing their, designations as part of the general reorganisation of the Army. A Squadron, New Zealand Scottish Regiment, becomes the Ist Reconnaissance Squadron, New Zealand Scottish Regiment, and C Squadron becomes the 2nd Reconnaissance Squadron.
