CHRISTCHURCH PRESBYTERY
Centenary To Be Marked
The centenary of the Presbytery of Chrlstchuroh will be celebrated from February 18 to 23 by a programme of special services and functions.
Reporting to the Presbytery about the work of the Presbytery centenary committee, the convener (the Rev. R. M. Rogers) said he was convinced that in the! programme the Presbytery! had the making of a celebration that would be a fitting one not only as a remembrance of the past, but also as a pointer to the future. The centenary programme will begin with a commemorative meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery on February 18 and will include the presentation of a historic pageant, a series of lectures by the Rev. C. H. Hwang, of Singapore, a modern-style youth service, a centennial Communion service, and services of combined parishes. The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand (the Rt. Rev. J. S. Murray) will preach at the commemorative meeting of the Presbytery.
Committee Conveners
The following have been appointed conveners of Presbytery committees by the Christchurch Presbytery. Life and mission of the church, the Rev. D. Glenny; home ministry, the Rev. K. A. Hadfield: property and finance. Mr B. England: students. the Rev. W. P. Eggleton: broadcasting and television, the Rev. R. J. Griffiths; public questions, the Rev. E. H. Z. Chapman; ecumenical, the Very Rev. M. W. Wilson: mission and problems of city churches, the Rev. D. M. Steedman; Presbytery centenary, the Rev. R. M. Ragers; church union, the Rev. D. G. Shaw.
