TIN-MINE HOSTAGES
Request For U.S. Arms
(N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) LA PAZ (Bolivia), Dec. 10. Bolivia tonight asked the United States for arms to free four Americans and 17 others held hostage by Communistled tin miners. The Americans, who include a Peace Corps volunteer, were seized after going to the mining area to deliver a United States cheque to be used for a school and an orphanage. Three of the hostages were treated at the mine hospital on Monday for “mild cases of nervous tension.” i The Bolivian Government [has Warned Communist-led tin miners at Catavi that it ' will cut off their food supplies ; unless they release 21 hostlages by Wednesday' night.
