The next three, from the inside, are King Hal, Doctor Dan, and Urrall, with Dandy Briar behind them. BOTTOM: Cardigan Bay passing the post well clear of his rivals to give Auckland stables their first win in the race since Josedale Grattan won in 1941. The next four, from the inside, are Robin Dundee (second), Master Alan (third), Vanderford (sixth), and Doctor Dan (fifth). The other three are Oreti (fourth), King Hal (seventh), and Urrall (eighth).
