Sectional times in the New Zealand Cup were: —First quarter, 32 l-ssec; half-mile, imin 3 3-ssec; six furlongs, imin 37 3-ssec; mile. 2min 11 l-ssec; mile and a quarter. 2min 43 4-ssec; mile and a half, 3min 17sec. The leaders took 58 3- for their last halfmile, and 30sec for their last quarter. Cardigan Bay was privately timed to take 29sec for his first quarter after passing the two-mile starting point, Imin Isec for the half-mile, Imin 32 4- for the six furlongs. and 2mln 6 l-ssec for his opening mile. His time for the two miles from post to post was about imin 9 3-ssec.
