AGRICULTURAL SCHOLARSHIP

Study At Lincoln

An annual scholarship valued at £ 100 to assist a student taking the bachelor of agricultural science course has been made available to Lincoln College by Fletcher Industries. Ltd. The scholarship. beginning in 1964, is similar to one the same company offered to Otago University.

Announcing this at a meeting of the college council yesterday, the principal (Dr. M. M. Bums) described the scholarship as a very fair and generous measure of support by Fletcher Industries, Ltd. In addition to the £ 100. payable in three instalments at the beginning of each term, stholars will be reimbursed for the cost of approved textbooks. Preference will be given to students going on to the third and fourth year of the course who intend to offer farm management and/or agronomy in their final year Successful applicants will spend one long vacation undertaking field work for the Fletcher company at agreed rates of pay. Ait the end of the course the scholar may do additional field work for the company for up to six months. He shall not be obliged to accept permanent employment with it. The scholarship will be awarded by a selection committee consisting of a representative of the company and the principal of Lincoln College or his nominee. Applications will close on September 30 in any year with the Registrar of Lincoln College The council yesterday sent a tetter thanking the company.
