MacARTHUR MEMOIRS

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) NEW YORK, Sept. 10. A former American President, Mr Truman, said today that he had declined an invitation to review* General Douglas MacArthur’s forthcoming memoirs because he would be a "prejudiced reviewer.” Mr Truman relieved General MacArthur of his command in the Far East during the Korean war, asserting that he had disobeyed orders. Mr Truman said he would read the general’s memoirs. "They ought to be very interesting.” he said.

"I like to read all historical books and purported historical books, too,” he added.
