TWO KILLED IN SMASH

Three Others Injured (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 25. Two people were killed and three injured when a car failed to negotiate a bend about a mile east of Pirongia on the Pirongia-Te Awamutu highway, at 12.25 a.m. today. Those killed were: Desmond Percy Harper, aged 34, a labourer, of Pirongia, married, with two children. Sydney Barrett, aged 14. of Pirongia, a pupil of Te Awamutu College. The car, which hit a power pole and rolled over was extensively damaged. Admitted to the Waikato Hospital were Mita Te Wao, Monty Kipa and Boydy Elliot. No details of their ages or of their injuries were available tonight. All live at Pirongia.

Tonight the condition of Te Wao and Kipa was described as satisfactory. The condition of Elliot was good.

Willy Barrett, aged 12, a brother of the dead boy, escaped injury.
