Under-17 Team Wins, 50-4

Teams from Waimate and Kaikoura competed against lower grade representative teams from Canterbury at South Hagley Park on Saturday. Although a strong, gusty wind made shooting difficult for these youthful players, it was apparent that Canterbury's reputation for accurate goal shooting will be in safe hands for years to come. The Canterbury under 17team, fresh from its success against a similar Wellington team last week-end. displayed considerable ability in beating Waimate B by 50 goals to 4. Other results were:— Canterbury second grade 43, Kaikoura 20; Canterbury second grade 31, Waimate A 21; Waimate C 27. Canterbury fifthsixth grade 18: Waimate A 22. Kaikoura 17.
