RESISTOR IN FORM
Led From Start Resistor gave a dashing display of front-running trotting when she won the Christchurch Handicap She set a sound pace from a closerunning field and after a keen struggle all the way to the straight, she held With You the nearest of her rivals, by half a length. Resistor, an aged mare by Gay Piper from Bonnet Blue, is trained at Weedons by P C Williams for Mr H. W Alston, of Christchurch She was driven on Saturday by D. C. Watts, who hand-led her at Hutt Park last December when she gained her lone win for the season. Front Line. Winterlight Harbour Light. Min Scott amd Hindu gave ground at the start Resistor led out from With You and Kennoway, with Safety Catch. Control. Poupette. Our Own Reprimand and Pohutukawa prominent in a bunched field There was little change in the middle stages, but near the three furlongs Pohutukawa, Harbour Light. Poupette amd Kennoway broke Resistor led to the straight ahead of With You, Flaming Way. Our Own. Reorimand. Control and Moon Boy. Resistor fought back strongly when challenged and she won by half a length from’ With You. which received the run of the race Flaming Way finished gamely for third a head back, with a length to Our Own and half a head tn Reprimand. Moon Boy and Harbour Light did well to finish next after meeting trouble inside the last three furlongs. Then came Control and Pohutukawa.
