One of the most pleasing aspects of Canterbury’s performance came from the crowd of 9000. The spectators were extremely generous In their applause of good play by Auckland and at the end of the game, there was a happy gesture by the Canterbury team. The home players lined up each side of the exit gate to allow their opponents off the field first, and to join in the general ovation given the w inning team.
