Radiation Dangers
Sir,—What would J F McCahon think of a doctor who diagnosed a cancer, but advised his patient not to worry as it was only a small one and causing no immediate inconvenience? By and large, that seems to me to be Mr Roth’s position in this matter Some New Zeeland scientists seem to think it presumptuous for the layman to voice any concern for his own safety in face of a grave potential danger. If they could cease to be petulant and join forces with the layman, it might be possible sufficiently to energise our Government into a more effective protest against the projected French nuclear explosions in the Pacific Or do Messrs McCahem and Roth regard these favourably, on the grounds that they are a justifiable risk, pregnant with possible benefits, such as a general improvement in the health and wealth of the Pacific peoples?—Yous. etc., FABIAN.
