Old Pennies

Sir,—l have an 1847 penny in very good condition. It was dug up in my grandparents' property in Rangiora. It also is thicker than an ordinary penny. I also have an English farthing dated 1822.—Yours, etc., R. T CHAMBERS Leithfleld, July 31, 1963.

Sir,—Does any reader know of a penny dated 1871, bearing Victoria’s crowned head, and on the reverse. “States of Jersey, . one-thir-teenth of a shilling." and a coat of arms of three lions? I also possess two pennies. 1806 and 1807, George 111, a Victoria 1848. and two halfpennies. one 1792 (Britannia). the other. George II appears to be dated 1741. I also have three farthings of 1808, 1872. 1888. and one Walsall token penny. 1811, another Sydney 1820.—Yours, etc., OPAWA. August 2. 1963. Sir.—Several years ago my husband dug up an old coin, which proved to be a sixpence. Though fairly well worn, it was easy to tee the head of George 111 and the date, 1818. —Yours, etc., SIXPENCE. August 2. 1963.
