Annual Meeting Held There is not the fear of tuberculosis there used to be, nor a stigma attached to it, Mr C. A. Rattray, president of the Canterbury and West Coast Tuberculosis Association, told members at the annual meeting of of the association. Now only 28 patients were treated at the tuberculosis annex of the Coronation Hospital, and a
further 180 patients were treated at home. Financial assistance to patients had not needed to be as great as last year, but this winter aid had been greater than last, probably because of bad weather, Mr Rattray said. An illustrated address was given by Mr L. A. Bennett on his impressions of overseas countries gathered during his trip to the National Cancer Congress in Moscow last year. Mr Bennett said he was very impressed by the good conditions of the people in Russia, and the obvious leaning in young people especially to Western ideas and culture. Officers elected were: President, Mr C. A. Rattray; vice-presidents. Miss M. Enright and Mr F. S. Taylor: executive, Messrs P. P. J. Amodeo, B. A. Caygill, H. E H. Denham. A. R. Guthrey. W. J. V. Hamilton, H. E. Perry, A. H. T. Rose. R. H. Truscott and L. Wilson, Dr. T. O. Enticott, Dr. L C. Macintyre. Dr. W. Smith, and the Rev. G. A. W. Armstrong.
