King Henry IVPart 1
Sir, —May a member orf the public, unskilled in criticism but appreciative both of Shakespeare and of good entertainment. congratulate Miss Ngaio Marsh and those concerned in the production of Henry IV for their fine performance. I found the skilful manoeuvring of scenes, after the manner of the Globe Theatre, to be particularly effective; actors in general enunciated clearly while showing their meaning by aettons and facial gestures; characters were not afraid to use the front orf the stage: and the individual interpretations of character were of a high standard. Although in the first half of the play dramatic suspense was perhaps sacrificed to comedy, the full import of the Rebellion was realised by the second
half, which was very finely played. The production was enjoyed by all I know who saw it: may the University Drama Society continue such performances.—Yours, etc., R. J. MILNE. July 24, 1963.
