VALUATION OF LAND

Government Study (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 22. The Government was considering the whole matter of land valuation, the Minister of Lands (Mr Gerard) said today. He was speaking during committee discussion of a remit on land valuation at the National Party conference. Mr Gerard said a select committee of the Government caucus had almost reached the stage of submitting an interim report. The remit, proposed by Otago Central, requested that the Government amend the Land Valuation Act in such a way that it would be mandatory for a realistic value to be placed on improvements that add to the economic value of a property, while not reducing the present tolerance between capital value and sale price. The remit was passed by the committee and will be recommended to the whole conference tomorrow.
