NELSON. July 9.

Miss Kate Green, of Nelson. celebrated her one hundred and second birthday, today. “How do you feel, Miss Green?” she was asked “How do I feel? I feel 199 years old." she replied But Miss Green is in good health and her mind is as active as ever

This morning she had a stream of visitors bearing flowers and gifts, a poem written for her birthday, a tall call from Wellington, telegrams and a cablegram from Suva. Miss Green left London for Nelson at the age of 12. Her brother, Mr C Green, died at the age of 101 in 1961

Mrs Helen A. Dixon, of Mount Albert, Auckland, was 101 years old yesterday. She has received telegrams from the Queen, the GovernorGeneral (Sir Bernard Fergusson). the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake), the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nordmeyer), and the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Mr Algie).

Mrs Dixon was born at Parawanui, near Bulls, and has lived in Auckland for about 40 years. She is still able to read and knit and likes listening to Parliament on the radio. Five of her eight children are still alive and she has 24 grandchildren 3 Z great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren
