PAPANUI 4th IN SHIELD RACE

(N.Z. Press Association) LEVIN, July 7. For the second successive year Point Chevalier Cycling Club (Auckland) won the national Hope Gibbons Shield race at Levin on Saturday over a 23-mile course instead of the planned 25 miles. The course was changed because of roadworks, and the teams turned one mile short of the full distance.

The result was:— Point Chevalier (Auckland), 53:54, 1; Palmerston North, 55.48, 2; Nelson, 56:14, 3; Papanui (Canterbury). 56:21, 4; Rotorua, 56:57, 5; Darmevirke. 66:36, 6.
