Athletics LYDIARD AND SNELL
10-day Tour Of South Island
P. G. Snell and Mr A. L. Lydiard will begin a very busy 10-day tour of the South Island when' they arrive in Christchurch this morning.
They will attend a rally of joggers organised by the Christchurch Harrier Club at the Marshland Road Hall next Saturday and a public meeting in the Repertory Theatre the following Tuesday. Snell will attend a New Brighton Athletic Club gathering next Saturday. Today they win go to Dunsandel to address school pupils there. They will address secondary school pupils In Ashburton this afternoon, and later they will speak to athletes at the Ashburton Domain. They will give a public lecture at Ashburton tonight. The fullest day of their tour will begin tomorrow They will visit the Temuka High School in the morning and give a luncheon address at Temuka. Then they will go to Geraldine to give lectures to primary and high school pupils, attend a joggers’ rally at 4.30 p.m., and address meetings at 5.30 pm. and 8.30 p.m. before' they leave for Fairlie to address the Fairlie Football Club. On Thursday Mr Lydiard will Interview promising athletes at Fairlie before leaving for Balelutha. There Snell and Mr Lydiard will address a meeting of Jaycees. after whietvthey will speak to Balclutha school pupils. They wtll then go to Alexandra and will address a meeting there on Friday. They will leave Dunedin by air tor Christchurch on Saturday. On July 17 they will leave for a 36-hour tour of the West Coast.
