Scheme To Provide Dogs For Blind

DUNEDIN, June 2 A proposal that the formation of an association to provide guide dogs for the blind be the national service scheme of Round Table New Zealand, was unanimously approved at the Round Table convention in Dunedin on Saturday afternoon Initially, a four-man committee was established, three members of which are Round Table representatives and the fourth. Mr P Sandwavs an Auckland guide dog owner and user This committee will endeavour to set up an interim committee representative of the New Zealand Foundation for the Blind, Dominion Association for the Blind kennel clubs, local digna taries. and others to make nine members.

This permanent committee will work in conjunction with the Association of Guide Dogs for the Blind of Australia which will train the dogs at its Melbourne centre and also teach owners in the use of the dogs Representing the Australian association at the convention was Mr F T Beau-
