Why did the money in the Mission Bay wishing' well decline from about £5O four years ago to £ 15 9s last year? The answer was given at a meeting of the Auckland Community Chest Trust Board last night. There was no hole in the steel mesh through which boys could get their hands The boys had a better idea, a member of the Trust Board said. They put a piece of chewing gum on the end of a stick, pressed down on a coin, and lifted it out.
Cars Damaged.—Two cars were extensively damaged when they collided at the corner of Moorhouse avenue and Colombo street about 11.40 a.m on Saturday. A passenger in one vehicle, Mrs Amy Winifred Green, of 54 Victoria street, Timaru. suffered a laceration to the forehead and leg injuries. She was treated at the Christchurch Hospital.
