Ballot , Two former servicemen, Mr W. Willcox, of Christchurch, and Mr R. D. Knight, of Ashburton, were among the 32 successful applicants for sections at Bishopdale in a ballot held by the Lands and Survey Department yesterday. Forty-three sections were offered for sale. Prices ranged from £725 for a section of one rood 2.8 perches in Ebony street to £925 for a 29-perch section at the corner of Tulett and Armitage streets. Areas ranged from 24 perches to one rood 11 perches in Stackhouse avenue, the latter selling for £737 10s.

There were no applications for four of the sections, 38 applications being received for the remainder. Several applicants applied for three or more sections in order of preference, but were unsuccessful. The ballot resulted in 11 sections being still available. Two other sections, one at Wainoni and one at Kaiapoi, were also offered for sale. There were no applications for either.
