BOROUGH COUNCIL CLERKS

New Award Gives • Pay Increase Pay increases ranging from £l2 to £3B a year are incorporated in a new award for Canterbury borough council clerks issued by the Arbitration Court. The award, which includes an unqualified preference clause, incorporates the terms of settlement reached in conciliation. The wages provisions are retrospective to April 1. The new award does not include town clerks, anyone getting more than £lll5 a year, or clerks engaged for elections or polls. Increases ranging from £l2 to £32 are made in the minimum pay for males, and from £l2 to £3B in the minimum pay for females. The award also gives more monetary recognition for educational qualifications.
