EARTH GETS FASTER
Cause Of Bad Weather? (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) TOKYO, April 17 The revolution of the earth has become unusually faster since the turn of the year, probably foreshadowing abnormal weather this summer. according to the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory The observatory said the faster revolution of the earth could possibly be linked to unusually severe cold spells, which hit various parts of the Northern Hemisphere, including Japan, last January The last such unusual change in the revolution speed occurred in the spring of 1959 At the time, the speed-up was 3J thousandths of a second. The observatory said that the atmospheric pressure pattern which brought severe cold spells last January, might have caused air and sea water to shift from the equator ioward the North Pole, affecting the revolution of the earth.
