USE FOR BOW
Line Fired Over Gully (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 5. Waitemata Electric Power Board workmen running a new power line between Roberta road and Eskdale road, Birkdale, last week called for a bow and arrow. Work had come to a standstill because the men were not allowed to disturb the native bush in a gully between the two roads. After a brief conference a call went out to Mr J. Hincho, a champion archer. With no trouble, Mr Hincho fired a light line on an arrow 70 yards across the gully. In a short time the power line was hauled acroas. Not a leaf was damaged. Rockets are normally used in similar circumstances.
