Croquet Double Titleholders Lose A Life

AUCKLAND, March 5
The loss of a life by the doubles titleholders, T. Regan (Wellington) and Mrs W. L. Martin (Christchurch) to A. G. F. Ross (Hastings) and M. Reitchesen (lower Hutt) was a feature of the first day’s play in the New Zealand croquet championships at the Mount Hobson lawns today.
Ross, who has won the New Zealand open championship 11 times, and Rettohesen won, 26 to 11.
There is a record entry of more than 400. and the standard of play was high. Members of the British and Australian test teams are taking part. Results:—
