ACCOUNTANT ON TRIAL

Counts Involve £13,382 (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 5. The trial of a Dunedin public accountant, Charles Robert Knudson Webb, aged 42, on 18 charges of alleged misappropriation and two charges relating to alleged false entries in a balance sheet, began in the Supreme Court today. Two charges involved £13,362 4s sd. Webb was secretary and director of three companies, Neil Mcßae and Company, Ltd., Mcßae’s (1958), Ltd., and an Invercargill Company J. D. Campbell (1935), Ltd. Webb has pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is represented by Mr R. J. Gilbert, with him Mr J. M. Hanan. The Crown case is being conducted by Mr J. B. Deaker. Mr Justice Henry is presiding. The hearing is expected to last for at least another day.
