Beatty Clocks Fast Time (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEW YORK, February 24. America's leading miler, J. Beatty, broke the meeting record in the Amateur Athletic Union's indoor track championships last night with his second sub four-minute mile in eight days. His time was 3min 59sec. Beatty narrowly missed his own world indoor record of 3 min 58.6 sec, which he set on the same Madison Square Garden track last week. He set the meeting record of 4mii»2sec last year, United Press International reported. Beatty covered the last quarter mile in 59sec. to win by seven yards from J. Grelle and W. Dotson, both at the United States.

Igor Ter-Ovanesyan (Russia) eclipsed the listed indoor long jump record with a leap of 28ft Blin, but he has a distance of 26ft loin awaiting recognition. Valery Brume! (Russia) set a new meeting record in the high jump with 7ft 3Jin. missing three attempts at 7ft sin.
