Silver Plate For Dunedin

The Queen today received on behalf of the city of Dunedin a gift from the city of Portsmouth Virginia. A silver plate was presented by Commissaryman Joseph L. Pope, a serving United States sailor from Portsmouth. It was engraved with the flags of New Zealand and the United States and the Dunedin coat of arms and the seal of the city of Portsmouth.
The Queen passed the gift to the Mayor of Dunedin (Mr T. K. S. Skiey). Loyal Message
A message of loyalty from the South African War Veterans’ Association conference in Whangarei has been sent to the Queen. Queen's Dress For the Royal garden party in Dunedin the Queen wore a dress in blue and jade green printed chiffon over matching printed silk. It had a soft bodice with high neckline and a slightly-flared skirt with pleated hemline. Her heavy silk coat was a bright jade green. It was singlebreasted with slightly fitted front, straight back, a small collar and three-quarter length sleeves. The Queen wore a bright jade hat with a large upturned brim, and navy blue accessories. Sea Rescue The frigate Rotoiti has left Auckland to take up station in the mid-Tasman see in case of sea-air rescue operations during the Royal flight from New Zealand to Australia on Monday. The frigate Taranaki, which has been stationed in the Far East, is returning home to stand by for seaatr rescue call for the Royal flight from Australia to Canada on March 28.
