STRANDED N.Z. PASSENGERS
Some To Travel In Willem Ruys (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 11. Some passengers in the firedamaged liner. Canberra, are to be brought to New Zeeland in the vessel Willem Ruys. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoeke) has cabled this information to New Zealandbound passengers in the 45,000-ton Ship.
“Everything possible is being done to overcome the difficulties of the situation,’* Mr Holyoake said. He was assured the Canberra’s company was endeavouring to meet passengers’ requests.
“Our immigration authorities have been in touch with sponsors of immigrants in the Canberra to advance arrangements for their reception. Where necessary the Government will arrange temporary accommodation,” he said.
Research Fund. The Rotiheohild family has given £50,000 towards research into all forms of mental illness.— London, January 11.
