The first shipment of Soviet MiG 21 jet fighters is on the way to India. Indian Government official sources said in New Delhi today.
The shipment is believed to comprise four Migs and is expected in Bombay within the coming week.
Indian pilots trained in the Soviet Union on Migs have returned to India and will fly the new aircraft when they are assembled. The Soviet Union has agreed to help India manufacture Migs and sites have been chosen for factories in Orissa and Maharashtra, in eastern and northern India.
