MANAGER TO RETIRE

Mr A L. Burk, secretarymanager of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, yesterday ad. vised the board that he will retire on May 31. Mr Burk has been with the board since 1945. and has had 46 years years’ local body lervice. He began as a cadet with the Dunedin City Council and before coming to Christchurch spent six years and a half as commissioner of Thames. A special meeting of the board in committee considered a successor to Mr Burk After the meeting, the chairman (Mr A A. Macfarlane) said there was nothing to report in the meantime.
