WIDENING OF WHARF
£300,000 Loan Sought An immediate application to the Local Authorities Loans Board for sanction to a £300,000 loan for work on No. 7 wharf was approved by the Lyttelton Harbour Board yesterday. The wharf is to be widened and have a transit shed erected on it. Authority for the work was contained in the board's empowering act passed by Parliament recently. The engineer-in-chief (Mr J. A. Cashin) was authonised to make preliminary airremgemerats to enable the work to proceed.
