, Train To Timaru On New Year’s Eve 1 An excursion train from 1 Christchurch to Timaru on New Year’s Eve will again be run by the Railways De- • partment this year. The train ! has proved very popular in ' the last few years, and the ■ same times will be operated. • The train will leave Christ- ■ church at 4 pjm. on Decem- ' ber 31, and start on the re- ' turn journey about 1 am. ’ the next day. 1 Three other excursions run by the department during January will again be operated. On Sunday, Janu- ' ary 6, there will be a daylight train to Kaikoura. On Saturday, January 19, a train will leave Christchurch at 12.1 am. and arrive in Picton at 7.40 am. The train will leave Picton at 6 pm. and arrive beck in Christchurch at 1.40 am. on Sunday. There will be a daylight excursion to Timaru on Sunf day, January 27. The train will leave Christchurch at 9 am. and complete the re- ’ turn journey at 920 p.m.
