She told her fiance, Colin Mclntyre, today, she did not want to marry him. Then she ; ran away into the bush near the aboriginal settlement at the outback town of Hall’s ■ Creek. Ruth Daylight's name came '■ before the public during the ' last Royal visit to Australia when she was chosen to be presented to the Queen and the primitive conditions under which she lived received great publicity in the press.
