(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 30. The proprietor of the South Pacific Hotel at Waiwera. Robert Wynard, pleaded guilty to being in possession of more than 20 toheroa and was fined £75 by Mr W. S. Spence, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland today.

The owner of a store at Waiwera, .Allan Catlow, pleaded guilty to a similar charge and was fined £25. Appearing for the inspector of fisheries, Mr J. W. Bain said it was quite a serious case of trafficking, as 1100 shellfish were involved in the charges. Catlow’s contribution was to keep toheroas in deep-freeze at a price. The Magistrate said he was taking a serious view of the offences. He accepted that the only person who stood to gain was Wynard, who used the shellfish to improve the cuisine of his hotel.
