LAMB PRICE IN BRITAIN
Drop Expected At Christmas
(N.Z Press Association) INVERCARGILL. Nov. 3. Argentinian beef would arrive on the British market in great quantity about Christmas and the price of New Zealand lamb was likely to suffer a severe reverse as a result, said Mr R. Garnham, principal of the Smithfield meat importing firm of R. E. Garnham and Sons, Ltd., at the Southland A. and P. Association’s export lamb competition at Makarewa today. The Argentinian meat would be cheap, said Mr Gamham. New Zealand lamb prices would have o drop to be competitive and stay before the public. "New Zealand might be faced with a very low price for its lamb for a period of about two months, from Christmas.’’ he said. Most of the home-killed meat had been cleared from the stores by now. Much less had been coming in than in past years. Until Christmas at least it would appear that the present rates ruling for lamb would be maintained.
