Swimming Spreydon Club’s Good Record
The performance of Spreydon club swimmers in winning 40 titles at the 1961-62 Canterbury championships was praised by the president (Mr C. A. Harrow i at the annua) meeting of the club A record number of 70 club members had taken part in the championships and almost all had reached finals, said Mr Harrow The swimmers gained 40 titles, as well as 32 second and 26 third placings. The club’s senior women won all the titles in their grade—all in record times —and the junior girls also won every title open to them Sixteen Spreydon club members represented Canterbury at the New Zealand championships R. L. Hodge and Misses H Hutton and L. Cox winning titles A Harrow Miss Cox. and Miss S A Nicholson all broke national records during the season and Miss Nicholson was subsequently included in
the training squad for the Em-: pire Games, said Mr Harrow Officers elected were:— Patron Mr J. Mackenzie; president. Mr N F. Robertson; vice-president. Mr R Luke: secretary Mr P H Campbell: as-sistant-secretary, Mr E. C. Albertson; treasurer, Miss R. Hall; men's club captain. Mr R. Luke: men’s vice-captain. Mr L Cox; women’s club captain. Miss R. Hall: women’s vice-captain. Miss L. Harrow: committee, Messrs C Harrow, R. Dale. S. Hodge. H. W. McDonald, and R A Stewart: publicity officer. Mr E C. Albertson; R.L.S.S, delegates Miss R Hall and Miss L. Harrow: centre delegates. Messrs N F Robertson. C. Harrow, and S. Hodge: auditor. Mr J Queree; club handicapper Mr C. Harrow’. Life members are: Messrs J Mackenzie. L. Ditford. M. Le Compte P H. Campbell. N. F Robertson M. T. Butterick. and W. Unwin.
