INCREASED STAKES
Orari Club’s Meetings
Stake increases amounting to £305 have been made by the Geraldine Racing Club for its spring meetings, to be run on September 24 and October 13. The biggest increase is in the Geraldine Cup, the main event or! the first day, which will be worth £6OO, including a £7O trophy. Last year the cup was worth £5OO. Another increase on the first day is in the Ranigtata Maiden Stakes, which is up £lO to £2lO. On the second day both open class events have been increased by £25. The Claude Stock Memorial Handicap will be worth £450 this year and the Stewards’ Handicap will be worth £350.
Four classes —maiden, improver, intermediate and open—have been catered for, after the success of similar programmes at Wingatui and Washdyke. An intermediate race, for horses which have won at least two flat races but not ‘more than £lOOO in winning stakes, will be run each day for stakes of £3OO and £275, and an improvers' event, worth £250, will be run each day for horses which have not had more than two wins.
